Summer Camp Success

As imago seeks to build on the strong growth it has experienced during the last couple of years, we’re focusing on our core strengths and capitalising on building relationships with clients in key sectors.

The last 12 months have been hugely successful at imago and our portfolio of venues have continued to experience strong growth. Now we want to build on this to further strengthen our position. We have always been able to grow business organically by building strong relationships with clients and providing them with excellent facilities and high quality service. But we want to increase business through sectors which fit in with the profile of the University and reputation for academic excellence and sporting facilities. This includes building long term relationships with clients from the association and not for profit sectors and to increase the number of events organised by charities and those associated with sporting and disability organisations.

One example of our successes in building relationships in this sector is with Let Me Play. Established in 2004, Let Me Play is a sports and education organisation that delivers programmes across the UK, providing young people with opportunities to play their chosen sport in a safe and secure environment.  imago has played host to many sporting stars of the future through the intensive sports camps Let Me Play runs at Loughborough University during the summer holidays. Last year, the Universities world class campus facilities were the base for its training camps for football, tennis, basketball and athletics. By choosing the campus as its base, it also allowed participants to experience the additional support offered by University staff to professional athletes.

Let Me Play has used the facilities offered by imago and Loughborough University since 2013 and will return later this year offering camps for football, tennis, basketball athletics and rugby. Matthew Lord, Director of Let Me Play, says:  “The world-class sporting facilities offered by the University and the additional support from the staff at imago will really benefit camp participants in their development during the week-long courses. We aim to use the facilities at Loughborough for the foreseeable future to further establish the UK’s best set of residential sports camps.”

As we look to raise awareness of imago and our portfolio of award-winning venues, we have taken a strategic approach to how we can increase business. There are many more opportunities with associations, agencies and not for profit organisations which will help us achieve our targets and long term goals. Being an academic venue, it is a huge attraction for these types of organisations to hold their events with imago. There isn’t a large number of venues in the UK, and specifically the Midlands, which can conference and accommodate 2,000 delegates in one place. It’s a big benefit for them, as is our association with the academic excellence provided by the University.

The industry is changing and we’re doing all we can to move forward and deliver on our customer needs. Making sure we focus on our core strengths will help us increase business opportunities and continue with our recent success.
